Disassemble

Source: Garrett Spitzmueller, YouTube.

This guide is good, BUT:

  • Earth yourself.
  • Use a earth mat for working.
  • Never ever use a battery driven screwdriver like it's shown in his video, too much force. This can damage everything.
  • Mark the screws which are important with a little line, see details below. So you always use the same amount of force putting it back together.

WARNING: Opening (moving back) the monitor can basely break some plastic case peaces, see details below.

TIP: Just mark the position before you unscrew these screws! So you make sure you do not overdrive the screws.

Really? There is a little screw where you can unscrew with luck...

There is another one... so this is HP design fault. You can not remove the fan without removing the whole CPU cooling assembly... by HP.... 😉

The BAD screws, from HP design, holding the fan ... useless...

[cml_media_alt id='3410']IMG_9196[/cml_media_alt]

HP design:

[cml_media_alt id='3413']IMG_9199[/cml_media_alt]

Crack in the case, because of moving the monitor back... try to prevent this.
